About the event

In the next 10 years we will require transformative action to address the worsening impacts of the climate crisis both here in Waterloo Region and around the world - but what will these changes look like? Over a 2-hour visualization workshop, residents throughout the region will be empowered to imagine imperative changes to help us all move towards a more climate-friendly, socially just Waterloo Region. 50x30WR aims to inspire our communities to help reduce GHG emissions 50% by 2030, in line with climate science, while centring community well-being and social justice. Together, we can create a beautiful, thriving, climate-friendly Waterloo Region!

ABOUT THE EVENT

BRIDGE Centre for Architecture + Design, an initiative by University of Waterloo architecture students, and 50x30WR (Waterloo Region) are hosting an event at 3-5 pm, Saturday, Nov 28th on Zoom. In breakout rooms for each municipality of the region, you will have a chance to focus on how to ‘green’ your municipality while improving quality of life and centring social justice in the next 10 years. Like in a sticker book, digital cutouts will be provided to collage onto specific street scenes at key locations throughout the region. Moderators in each breakout room will facilitate conversation and aid in using online collaging tools. All you need is to join us via Zoom on the day-of (link provided on sign-up), no technical skills needed!

Do you want to make Waterloo Region more green and just? Join us for this event to help reach ambitious climate goals while also making life better for our residents!

HOW WILL THE IMAGES BE USED?

Collaboratively created collage images from the event will be shared publicly as visionary examples of how to tackle our climate crisis. These images will help advocate for a more caring and just Waterloo Region. 50x30WR and BRIDGE will share these images to help spark broader imagination, build a movement, and inspire future actions for this momentous transition ahead of us. Your ideas and images will make a difference!

PICK A MUNICIPALITY

When registering, we ask all registrants to please select your top two preferred municipalities to create visualizations for, so that we can divide everyone into groups for the breakouts prior to the event. This survey is provided on registration (next step).

BRING YOUR OWN CUT-OUT (or not)

We have ample cut-outs and scenes for collaging, but would love your input!. Participants are encouraged to bring their own digital cut-outs of just, green solutions relevant to Waterloo Region. This is completely optional. Pre-made cut-outs will be provided for participants to use during the event.
